NewsAfrica Recruitment : Various Graduate Positions

    NewsAfrica is a fortnightly English language newsmagazine for Africa and Africans in diaspora. A new media company (with foreign interest), which promises to set a new standards in media practice in Nigeria, is seeking to fill the following positions:

    1.Editorial Department
        A. Editor:
    The candidate must be a highly driven professional with at least 15 years experience in print journalism, at least 5 of which must have been in senior editorial position.
    The ideal candidate must be a graduate of mass communication, political science or economics. He/She must be a good manager of men and resources
        B. Deputy Editors:
    The deputy editors would be in charge of news, editorial  production and the nation's capital.
    The qualification are the same as for the editor except that 10 years of experience would be accepted as sufficient.
        C. Web Editor:
    The web editor must be a candidate qualified to apply for the position of deputy editor but with the added advantage of being literate in web publishing technologies.
    The successful candidate would undergo a training programme in the United Kingdom and so must not be someone barred from entry into the UK.
        D. Asst Editors:
    They are needed for the following desks; business, sports, photo, OPED, politics, internationals.
    Candidates must be acknowledged authorities on the relevant beats. They must have a minimum of 8 years experience, at least 3 as desk editors
        E. Senior Reporters:
    Candidates must be all round journalists with at least 5 years professional experience.
    They must be graduate of mass communication, politics, economics, law, science, statistics or religion.
    The ideal candidate must not be more than 35 years of age.
        F. Correspondents:
    They are required for the following outstations; Port Hacourt, Kano, Kaduna, Ibadan, Yenagoa and Enugu.
    They must be based in the particular region and have excellent local contacts.
        G. Reporters:
    The candidates must be graduates who have completed the mandatory NYSC experience.
    The position does not require any experience.
    Candidates are only required to have a passion for journalism, flair for writting, and the determination to be the best.
    Applicants must have at least second class upper degree or HND with upper credit pass.

    2. Marketing
        H. Circulation Manager:
    The ideal candidate must be a senior manager in the circulation department of the newspaper.
    He must be someone who can operate both in a corporate and oshodin market environments.
    He must have at least 10 years experience and be able to demonsrate a capacity to succeed in a highly competitive market.
        I. Advert Officers:
    The ideal candidtate must be working in the advert department of a newspaper or a client service departmentof an advertising agency.
    He/She must have a minimum of 5 years experience and be able to produce a track record of sales.
    The advert officers will be based in Lagos, Port Harcourt and Abuja and should be local to these areas. The minimum qualification is a first degree or HND
        J. Circulation Officers
    Candidates for this position must be working already in the circulation department of a major newspaper and understand the complexities of newspaper circulation in Nigeria

    3. Service Units
        K. Accountants:
    The candidate for this position must hold a University degree and be a member of the ICAN in Nigeria.
    He must be a person of integrity with unblemished professional record.
    He must have at least 10 years experience, the last 5 of which must have been in a management position
        L. Internal Auditor:
    The candidate must have the same qualifications as the accountant.
    He mus have a minimum of 5 years experience
        M. IT Specialist
    The IT professional must be someone who can provide support to the entire team, especially in maintaining the networks and troubleshooting.
    He must be conversant with windows and Mac OS.
    He should be a quick learner and also understand the working of media publishing technologies.

    NB: Remuneration for these positions are very attractive.
